by David W. Falls (Author)

For most of history, falling stars were taken as messages from the gods--signs that the universe was speaking. But what remains when those signs go silent?

In The Great Silence, David W. Falls traces his journey from childhood prayer to honest doubt, examining the arguments, assumptions, and inherited certainties that once sustained his faith. Blending memoir with philosophical reflection, he explores why belief endures, why doubt deepens, and what it means to seek truth in a world that offers no clear answers.

Through unanswered prayers, intellectual challenge, and the quiet discipline of evidence, Falls confronts the silence where certainty once lived. He does not argue that meaning disappears when God does--but that it must be reexamined, reshaped, and lived without guarantees. The Great Silence is a reflective and uncompromising exploration of belief, doubt, and what remains after faith loosens its grip.
