by Matthew Burden (Author)

"The highest matter in the noblest form."--John Donne, referring to biblical material rendered into poetry What if the greatest story ever told were also a great work of poetry? A harmony of all four Gospels rendered in epic verse, The Evangeliad follows the complete story of Jesus Christ from his birth to his ascension--every healing, every parable, every hard saying, every moment of glory and sorrow--all set in the stirring cadence of English heroic meter. Ambitious in scope and ancient in spirit, The Evangeliad is unlike anything else in contemporary Christian literature. This is not a book for scholars only, nor for poets only: It is a book for anyone who loves the Gospels and who delights to hear their words in a new and beautiful form.
