by Raphael Yabut (Author)

Grassroots church communities demonstrate what it means to resist colonial ways of learning and of being church. In their practices of communal discernment and engagement with reality, they bear witness to a kind of religious education wherein all learn with one another. In this book, Raphael Yabut examines these communities and reimagines a religious education that resists the colonial and creates the possibility for all to learn with one another in the Spirit. What does this religious education look like? Informed by a theology of synodality and the principles of critical pedagogy, Yabut reimagines religious education as a practice of creating space: space for engaging local theologies, space for dialogue to emerge, space for the voice of the Spirit to arise. This book invites readers to reimagine religious education anew--new ways of listening to the Spirit together, of knowing and being, of learning with one another.
