Letters to a German Princess: Philosophy and Theology
This selected edition of Leonhard Euler's "Letters to a German Princess," written between 1760 and 1762, focuses on letters 76 to 132. In these letters, Euler delves into philosophical and theological issues with exceptional clarity. Euler examines Leibniz-Wolff's doctrine of monads, debates the nature of forces, and reflects on the relationship between soul and body. He also addresses theological themes such as rational freedom, the problem of evil, and the nature of sensory perception. This selection provides an in-depth view of Euler's ideas, revealing his influence on 18th-century philosophy and science. With its accessible and rigorous approach, this edition offers a window into the thought of one of the greatest mathematicians and philosophers of the Enlightenment era.
