The Word for Today
When we cannot see a way forward, we usually want a detailed map. Jesus offers something greater: Himself.
Christ is the way to the Father because He reveals God’s character, carries our sin, reconciles us to God, and brings us into covenant relationship. He is not merely a guide pointing toward life. He is its source.
This promise does not mean every practical decision becomes immediately obvious. Scripture may not name the job to take, the city to choose, or the exact timing of a difficult conversation. It gives something deeper: a trustworthy Person to follow and truth that shapes faithful decisions.
When the whole road is hidden, walk in the light already given. Follow Jesus in the next clear act of truth, love, courage, repentance, or obedience.
Picture the Word
Imagine a narrow path passing through heavy fog toward warm light. Only the next section of ground is visible, but the path has direction and the light ahead is steady.
Faith does not require pretending to see through the fog. It means refusing to stand still merely because the destination cannot be viewed all at once.
Deeper in the Word
Jesus spoke John 14:6 while preparing His disciples for His departure and the cross. Thomas wanted to know the way. Jesus answered by directing attention away from a route and toward His own identity.
Jesus is the way because access to the Father comes through His saving work. He is the truth because God’s character and purposes are revealed faithfully in Him. He is the life because eternal life is received through union with Him.
Hebrews describes a new and living way into God’s presence through Jesus. Christian access to God is not achieved through moral performance, secret knowledge, or human mediation, but through Christ.
Following Jesus also reshapes ordinary decisions. His character, commands, mission, and kingdom values become the compass by which options are tested.

Read with John 14, the way forward is not maintained by occasional contact with Christ but by an abiding relationship that shapes daily growth and direction.

- Take the next obedient step rather than demanding the entire map.

Pray the Word
Jesus, You are the way, the truth, and the life. Lead me to the Father and keep me from trusting my own understanding more than Your Word. When I cannot see the whole road, give me courage to walk in the light You have given. Shape my decisions by Your character and keep me close to You. Amen.
