The Word for Today
Temptation is common to humanity, but it does not make sin inevitable. God remains faithful and provides a way to endure without surrendering.
The way of escape may be ordinary: leave the room, close the screen, call a trusted person, tell the truth, or avoid the setting altogether. We should not demand a dramatic rescue while ignoring a practical exit.
Depend on Christ and take the exit early.
Picture the Word
Imagine a dark, narrowing passage with one clearly illuminated doorway opening into daylight. The exit is not hidden or spectacular. It is simply available, close enough to take before the corridor becomes harder to leave.
Deeper in the Word
Paul’s assurance follows warnings drawn from Israel’s failures. The promise is not permission for overconfidence, but encouragement to remain watchful and flee idolatry.
Joseph’s escape from temptation was literal: he left his garment and ran. Jesus answered temptation through trust in His Father and faithful use of Scripture.
God’s faithfulness does not mean every trial feels easy. It means temptation never removes our dependence on grace or our responsibility to choose the path of endurance He provides.

- Identify the earliest warning sign before the temptation becomes intense.
- Remove easy access to the setting, screen, object, or conversation involved.
- Tell one trustworthy person where you need support.
- Prepare one truthful sentence or Scripture passage to answer the lie.
- Use the practical exit immediately rather than negotiating with temptation.

Pray the Word
Faithful God, help me recognize temptation early and use the way of escape You provide. Keep me from overconfidence, delay, and secrecy. Teach me to depend on Christ and choose the practical path of obedience. Amen.
